Dr. Slump IQ博士 - Review

Finally I finish reading the whole comic set (18 books) of Dr. Slump :) For almost one month plus, I totally stop watching my drama & movie just to read this... When I read comic, I don't like to rush, I love to read & imagine how it usually move from the way the author 鳥山明 Akira Toriyama trying to present in it. Comic books always give me more spaces to imagine than the cartoon animation. 

As mentioned in my previous post, Dr. Slump came out way earlier than Dragon Ballz... The manga series were originally shown in comic magazine, from January 1980 till August 1984. The author thought this manga series will only last for one year plus but Arale seems to be getting it fame that time and the comic become more and more popular :)

Dr. Slump is set in Penguin Village, a place where humans co-exist with all sorts of anthropomorphic animals and other objects. In this village lives Senbei Norimaki, an inventor. In the first chapter, he builds what he hopes will be the world's most perfect little girl robot, named Arale Norimaki. However, she turns out to be in severe need of eyeglasses. She is also very naïve, and in later issues she has adventures such as bringing a huge bear home, having mistaken it for a pet. To Senbei's credit, she does have super-strength. In general, the manga focuses on Arale's misunderstandings of humanity and Senbei's inventions, rivalries, and romantic misadventures. In the middle of the series, a recurring villain named Dr. Mashirito appears as a rival to Senbei.

Le Petit Prince 小王子

The Little Prince is a poetic tale, with water colour illustrations by the author, in which a pilot stranded in the desert meets a young prince fallen to Earth from a tiny asteroid. The story is philosophical and includes social criticism, remarking on the strangeness of the adult world. It was written during a dark, restless, but productive period for Saint-Exupéry after he fled to North America subsequent to the Fall of France during the Second World War, witnessed first hand by the author and captured in his memoir Flight to Arras. The adult fable, as described in one review, is actually "...an allegory of Saint-Exupéry's own life—his search for childhood certainties and interior peace, his mysticism, his belief in human courage and brotherhood....", plus his enduring love for his wife Consuelo "but also an allusion to the tortured nature of their relationship."

Though ostensibly styled as a children's book, The Little Prince makes several profound and idealistic observations about life and human nature. For example, Saint-Exupéry tells of a fox meeting the young prince during his travels on Earth. The story's essence is contained in the lines uttered by the fox to the little prince: On ne voit bien qu'avec le cœur. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux. ("One sees clearly only with the heart. What is essential is invisible to the eye.") Other key thematic messages are articulated by the fox, such as: Tu deviens responsable pour toujours de ce que tu as apprivoisé. ("You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.") and C'est le temps que tu as perdu pour ta rose qui fait ta rose si importante. ("It is the time you have lost for your rose that makes your rose so important.") The fox's messages are arguably the book's most famous quotations because they deal with human relationships.

《小王子》看似只是一部童话书，但其实它对生活和人性作了相当意蕴深长而理想主义化的叙述。正如小王子在地球上遇到的一只狐狸对他说的那句堪称本书点睛之笔的话：「人只有用自己的心才能看清事物，真正重要的東西用眼睛是看不到的。」（法語："On ne voit bien qu'avec le cœur.L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux."；英語："One sees clearly only with the heart. Well, this book really inspires me a lot, thanks to Adrian, a good friend who share such a nice book to me~ though i'm not a kid anymore but i believe deep inside my soul, a boy is still live in within. Thank you my friend~

打工内容是在七天中参与一项心理实验，只须按照规则和既定程序行事即可。在发生某桩不合规或不合法事件后，被试者要一起讨论推理出谁是罪犯，然后，除了嫌疑人之外的所有人表决，根据少数服从多数的原则确定犯人，最后把犯人投入监狱。试验方在此过程中收集心理数据。对被试者来说这是一场不可思议的发财梦，如果顺利的话，甚至能成为亿万富翁。然而，等待着他们的，并不是美好的梦境，而是可怕的魔魇。

國王遊戲<滅亡6.08> vs 國王遊戲<滅亡6.11> by 金澤伸明 Nobuaki Konazawa

After the 1st, 2nd & 3rd book... I have used almost one year time to finish the 4th & 5th books lol~ The first 3 books are really nasty and exciting which i have finish each book in around a week... But the 4th and 5th books (which are in the same story) really bored the hell out of me! 

This time it not only involved a classroom of student, but instead the whole Japan's high school student have to involved in the nasty King's game. Since the author decided to spread the story into 2 books, it has drag and drag the story so long that each instruction given for the game become so boring... Except the first one which involved two gender to fight again each other...

Luckily i have finished it now and they will be nicely return back to the owner, Adrian lol~ And just when i thought i have finish reading the series, i found out that the author has came out with the 6th book, which had already published in December 2013. The 7th book has been just released in March 2014~ god!!! He is even planning to come out with the 8th book soon~ 

Gee... its not nice to stop continue reading the novel after 5 books right? Guess i will start to look for the books soon~

I believe that a lot of book fans went for it

This is my first time there

As i have missed the book sales last year

So there is no way i'm gonna miss it this year

 

I went twice

And spend total of RM201.00

There were so many books to buy

But mostly on english & BM

I think only the popular book fair will have chinese books

 

Well its alright for me

As long as i can buy books

And for tax reduction

This is enough for me

Hehe

國王遊戲(临场) / 金澤伸明 King's Game (On the Spot) by Nobuaki Konazawa

The 3rd book of King's Game

It is more exciting and more cruel

It is out of your expectation

Basically the rules and regulations of the game is still the same

1. Every student force to participate

2. After receiving the King's instruction, it must be carry out in within 24 hours

3. You will be punish if you don't follow the order

4. Nobody is allow to pull out from the game

 

This time, it talks about Natsuko's version

Though the games are more cruel

But the story talks more about Natsuko's inner heart

And it did cut off much of the torturing part :( 

I really hope to read more about the cruelty side, but too bad

And there's a girl who is more cruel than Natsuko - Mai

Mai outshine every students in this book

My idol :)

 

Really hope to read the 4th book soon

I used around 1 week to finish the 1st book

But i only used 4 days to finish this 2nd book

Basically the rules and regulations of the game is still the same

1. Every student force to participate

2. After receiving the King's instruction, it must be carry out in within 24 hours

3. You will be punish if you don't follow the order

4. Nobody is allow to pull out from the game

This time Konazawa will face his ultimate rival - Natsuko

Both of them experience in the King's game before

Both of them did not survive in the 2nd book

Nobody survive in this 2nd book

Though the story is nice

But i don't like the ending

After reading this book, i feel its the parody of the old Jap film - Battle Royale 大逃杀. Of course, Battle Royale is control by human being while this is control by some demonic power. How would i rate this? I'll have to give a 7/10 for this. Its because the whole story is kinda predictable and the way of the killing is too simple... cannot satisfy a slasher's heart of mine~ lol
